SVD Mission Day: For a Missionary Church in a wounded world

Mission Day 2022 350The SVD Annual Mission Day 2022 will be held on Saturday, October 8, under the theme: For a Missionary Church in a Wounded World: Culturally Aware, Interreligious Solidarity & Faithfulness.

The Mission Day will be held at Yarra Theological Union Study Centre, 98 Albion Road, Box Hill, VIC, starting at 3pm AEDT.

“If you are in Victoria, we would love to welcome you in person. If you live outside of Victoria, we would love to welcome you virtually. The live stream link is

https://youtu.be/hGInRvRuGKk,” says Fr Albano Da Costa SVD.

In a world wounded by the Covid-19 pandemic, Ukraine-Russia conflict, institutional sex abuse, broken systems, poverty, threats to the environment and rising indifference, the Spirit is calling in the night to walk together in solidarity

towards healing and resurrection. The implications therefore for a missionary church are not for the faint-hearted.

A prophetic call is now at hand to see the cracks and respond with renewed purpose attuned to an integral vision of humanity envisioned by God. It’s now or never for prophets and healers to rise.

The SVD Mission Day, started in 1985 as Mission Seminar, primarily for the mission animation of the local church and as part of the formation program.

Principal speaker for the seminar will be Father Asaeli Rass SVD, Provincial leader of the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD Australia Province), Sister Anne Jordan, PBVM (Cana Communities) and Prakash Menezes, parish priest of Sacred Heart Parish, Alice Springs will chair the mission day seminar.
