Gustys photo 300Born in East Timor and raised in Kupang, Indonesia, Agustinus ‘Gusty’ Siga Buu Araujo has arrived at Dorish Maru College in Melbourne to complete his Theological studies and formation as a Divine Word Missionary.

Gusty’s father is from Indonesia and his mother is from East Timor. When he was three years old, in 1999, the family moved from Dili to Kupang, where he grew up.

After finishing school, Gusty joined the SVD, taking his first vows on the Feast of the Assumption, August 15, 2017.

“I completed my Bachelor of Philosophy in Ledalero Catholic Institute of Philosophy, Maumere, Indonesia,” he says.

“It took me four years to finish my study there and now I’m looking forward to doing my Theological Studies here in the Australia Province.”

Gusty will undertake his studies at Yarra Theological Union – University of Divinity, while living as part of the Dorish Maru College community.

“I’m also looking forward to having various new experiences here, especially in pastoral ministry, as well as learning about a lot of new cultures and forming myself to be a good SVD member,” he says

Gusty is one of several new students to arrive at Dorish Maru this year, following a hiatus due to COVID-related international border closures and travel restrictions.
