SVD postulants share vocations stories with parishes

The SVD Postulants of the Australia Province have been visiting SVD parishes and sharing their personal stories as part of special Vocations Weekends.

Postulant Steve Desveaux says it was a great experience to meet people in SVD parishes and share some of his own vocation journey with them.

“We were invited by the Vocations Director and Parish Priests to be part of Vocations Weekends and we were delighted to attend,” he says.

“We assisted the Vocations Director, Fr Viet Ngyuen SVD, in setting up the Vocations-weekend---Steve-Desveaux-550Vocations Display, including photographs, brochures and bookmarks. The Vocations Display also features an inbuilt electronic screen that displays SVD mission work and activities.”

After sharing his story during masses, Steve says he was encouraged by the warm response.

“We had a number of enquiries about Vocations from those in attendance, especially from the younger age group,” he says.

Postulants, Yipeng Dang and Charlerm N. were able to share their Vocations stories on a more one-to-one basis after each mass.

“We are so blessed to be part of the SVD community at Marsfield, NSW and look forward to the future with eager and zealous hearts for God,” says Steve.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

In the spirit of reconciliation, the Society of the Divine Word, Australia Province, acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea, sky, and community.

We acknowledge their skin-groups, story-lines, traditions, religiosity and living cultures.

We pay respect to their elders, past, present, and emerging, and extend that respect to all indigenous peoples of New Zealand, Thailand, and Myanmar.

We are committed to building with them, a brighter future together.
