BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS-THE TRUE VINE

John 15.1-8

By. Fr. Andy Fani, SVD

Fr Adrianus Fani SVD 150My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. In today's Gospel, Jesus affirms Himself as the true Vine. The relationship between the vine and the branches is used by Jesus to describe the relationship between Himself and His disciples. By remaining attached to Jesus as the Source of Life, the disciples can continue God's mission in the world successfully.

In my opinion, there are several points that we can learn from the word of Jesus. Firstly, Jesus is our source of life. Just as branches can only grow and bear fruit if they are connected to the vine, we also can only live and bear worthy fruit if we are connected to Jesus. The strength of our lives lies in an intimate relationship with God.

I am the vine you are the branches John 15 Twitter 550Secondly, Jesus invites us to abide in Him. He stated, “Whoever remains in me, with me in him, bears fruit in plenty”. Remaining in Christ Jesus means living in fellowship, practising Jesus’ words, following the example of Jesus' life, and depending on Jesus completely.

Thirdly, Jesus alluded to the importance of sustained fruitfulness. Jeus said: “It is to the glory of my Father that you should bear much Fruit, and then you will be my disciples.” Being fruitful not only means producing good results and being useful to others, but also showing the glory of the Father in Heaven.

As an application, we are first and foremost reminded to always seek and deepen our relationship with Jesus. Only by connecting with Jesus can we find true strength and meaning in this life. In addition, we are also called to live in obedience to His word and exemplify it in all aspects of life. Love and compassion for others, as well as humility in service to others in our lives, are concrete evidence of a close relationship and fellowship with Christ.

Therefore, do not let the distractions, busyness, and temptations of the world take you away from Jesus, but let Him be the source of life that continuously flows through you. If you want to experience true joy and victory, abide in Jesus, unite with Him, and live for Him. Let's bear fruit for the glory of God.

PEACE BE WITH YOU
